Beholder with a Heart
During the beginning, when Aedos was just a young continent Archaia used to be part of one whole being, the Arch-beholder, who ruled his land with an iron tentacle. When the ancient races began to rebel however they led an assault against the arch-beholder and using Divine magic, split the beholder into two separate entities, one of which was Archaia. Archaia found himself with a conscious, something most beholders do not have, and sympathized with the ancient races. He locked away his other half, urgaia, in the darkspire, then helped the ancient races forge the Keystone: see The 7 gems of power. After the ancient races were successful in driving out Aedos’s demon overlords, Archaia locked the death gem in the darkspire and helped set up Paladia, a holy city dedicated to Bahamut. The city and the paladins helped contain the dark energy of the darkspire and its contents, and Achaia helped rule as one of seven councilman. He continued to help rule fairly and justly until his death at the hands of Lord Loudrey. Later when his brother urgaia was defeated, the two’s spirits rejoined again in the void.
